The Process
What to expect

Emergency Order — Law enforcement or the court can issue an emergency protective order immediately if there is imminent danger.

Temporary Restraining Order — Scott files for a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) which can be granted the same day by a judge.

Court Hearing — Within 21 days, both parties appear before a judge. Scott presents your case to obtain a permanent order.

Permanent Order — If granted, a permanent restraining order can last up to 5 years and includes specific protections tailored to your situation.

Ongoing Protection — Orders can be renewed and violations can result in criminal penalties. Scott helps you enforce the order if it is violated.
